| The objective of Tango's Equipment Management
function is to reduce total lifecycle cost by extending
equipment life between repairs.

|
| Large industrial
facilities have thousands of pieces of critical
equipment. Much of this equipment runs reliably
for many years between overhauls and some equipment
fails often and repeatedly. The key to reducing
lifecycle cost is to understand equipment by:
* Time to Failure (MTBF) * Cost of Failure * Root Cause of Failure |
|
|
|
|
With this information, we can pinpoint the most
unreliable plant equipment, justify improving based on
cost and eliminate its underlying root causes of failure
to extend its life between overhauls.

| Tango Helps You Collect and Manage Basic Reliability Information |
| In order understand your facility's reliability, the
causes of unreliability, justify improvement initiatives
and measure reliability improvement, three basic
measures of reliability must be maintained:
|
| 1. Time to Failure: Often known as Mean Time
Between Failure (MTBF), is the time equipment lasts
between overhauls. It is important to know MTBF
for each piece of plant equipment AND each plant
location.
|
| 2. Cost of Failure: This measurement helps
prioritize reliability improvement projects and helps
measure the results of improvement projects.
|
| 3. Root Cause of Failure: Often known as Root Cause of Failure Analysis (RCFA), extending equipment life and reliability improvement is the identification and systematic elimination of root causes of failure. |
